This uses a continuous ten minute sequence of five 4 and 5 year olds in an infant school classroom.
They are sitting round a table drawing pictures of being helpful to someone. It is presented first without interruption so that it can be used to practice observing with a variety of objectives (social behaviour, concentration, language development etc.)
Two children are then picked out, one socially confident, the other withdrawn, and the sequence is observed in detail showing how to record one child at a time using the target child technique.
Observations are written on the screen after each minute.
Evaluations based on the observations and the children's finished pictures are included.
