Using the Siren Films Video Library with your training

When used during in-service training, they delight, inform and engage educators and students to apply theory to practice. You can access the Library for use in your training as an individual or as a team. There are a number of options depending on the size of your team and how you would like to access the materials. Steps for your training

1. Select & search

Choose the video clips that fit with the areas you want to focus on. Look through the categories or use the search function to narrow down the clips by age and subject. You can also search by typing in a word or a phrase.

2. Watch & notice

Sometimes students might not have had any practical experience of working in a setting. Being able to access the videos gives them an idea of what it might look like, how children can be supported and how their development can be promoted appropriately.

3. Reflect & respond

After watching the video allow time for reflection about what you have noticed. You can use the reflection prompts to start discussion. After reflecting on the video, think about what you will do next. What can be put into action?

There are some really fantastic videos to share with practitioners. The description of the video and the areas of development they meet and how to use the video makes it easy to use. I like that it does the work for you, the prompts, things to think about, things to discuss etc. are all good for training. I like that you can have a long or short clip, some have voice over some don't, which helps when you want providers to watch and say what they saw, without the prompt of the voice over.
