COEL – Creating and thinking critically

Creativity is not just restricted to the arts. It’s about developing the skills to think flexibly and think of new ways of doing things. It includes having your own ideas and making links between them.

Thinking critically involves using reasoning to test things out and choose the best ways to do things. It leads to being able to think about how you learn most effectively. Children often show evidence of these kinds of skills when they are engaged in playful activities where they have a high level of control over what they are doing.
